The following is from the Emergency Management Coordinator, Palmerton School District:
It is important
not only for the school district to be prepared but for individual families to be prepared as well. I encourage all
employees, students, and their families to develop individual emergency plans at home prior to an emergency or disaster.
I have included
a website link to view a 17 minute video titled “Get Ready 2” regarding emergency preparedness at home.
If you are interested in preparing for emergencies, this video will provide information and considerations upon planning.

Some recommendations
to consider when developing your plan:
- How do you obtain accurate information during a disaster?
- Who should family members contact?
- How do family members stay in contact?
- Where should family members meet?
- Shelter in Place – Where? What will you need?
- Evacuation plan – Where do you go? What will
you take with you?
- Emergency Kit – Include supplies pertaining to your
families specific needs
- Family, neighbors and friends – Does anyone need
help such as transportation, etc.
